Model Railway Steam Train

     Model Railway Trains

People have different reasons for their love of all things connected with model railway trains. For those who recall the days of steam; the sight of a powerful locomotive thundering along the track, belching smoke and snorting steam, stirs evocative emotions. Even the smell of the smoke was strangely pleasurable although not necessarily healthy. These magnificent iron horses were likened to living beings and affection was lavished upon them as if they were. Every boy dreamed of riding these man made monsters, traversing the countryside and city, day and night, huge power at his command. Like a powerful steed it required feeding and watering and made a servant of the human on the footplate laboring to satisfy it's ravenous appetite. There is a poem that I heard whilst very young which stirred me then as now. Prehaps you also are familiar with it. An old but dramatic clip on this video.

Whilst few of us will never be able to fulfill the dream of climbing aboard and  exploring the wonderful workings of these machines, we can and do take pleasure in playing with them in miniture. Many become avid model train collectors whilst others take up modelling and the construction after creating railroad layouts. Model railway trains and all that comes with it is the hobby of thousands of enthusiasts of all ages and all nationalities. Whether interest is generated from the age of the steam locomotive, from the modern diesel locomotives, the diesel-electric locomotive or the electric train, there are miniture replicas on the market for all to own, enjoy and admire.

But whilst the locomotive is the central piece in model railway train collections, a vast array of rolling stock is also available in miniture and produced in superb detail. Every kind, size and shape, some with the original colour schemes of the companies in which they served.

In addition of course, there is available the tracking in various guages,  produced precisely to cater for the various line systems that were and maybe still in use.

Top all this with some creative juices and one can create a landscape with mountains, forests and lakes; a magic wonderland of nature in miniture, through which winds your model railway trains.

There is a range of pricing to suit most pockets and whilst certain, top of the range items, may be expensive for some, the beauty with this hobby is that items can be purchased over a period of time, without depriving one of much enjoyment. Indeed a rewarding and satisfying pastime that will give a lifetime of pleasure, not only to you but to friends and family. Before you know it, you may well become another model railway enthusiast.
